Read What The Circle Does to Support a Sustainable Lifestyle

The United States alone throws away $11.4 billion worth of recyclable containers and packaging every year. As landfills continue to grow throughout our country and the world, we need to start recycling if we want to preserve our planet for future generations. Living a sustainable lifestyle doesn’t have to be as intimidating or challenging as it seems. It can begin with small steps.

Here at The Circle , we do what we can to protect the environment and promote a sustainable lifestyle—not just by recycling, but also by preserving water. Here are three ways we live green at The Circle.

We Encourage Recycling

Recycling is one of the best ways to lead a sustainable lifestyle. Not only do we have recycling bins in our office, but we also encourage all residents to recycle as well. You can recycle items such as paper, plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, and flattened cardboard. However, you cannot recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.

Here in Long Beach, you can take your recycling to Sunset Recycling Center . This small change in habit can make a big difference for our planet.

We Save on Water

Long Beach is prone to droughts, so we do all we can to cut down on our water use. To start, our property has drought-tolerant landscaping, which means we use plants that don’t require much water. We have succulents throughout our community. We have also installed a drip irrigation system and replaced some grass and mulch areas with beautiful stone. This allows us to save thousands of gallons of water!

Indoors, we save on water with our plumbing system. The average toilet uses about 3.5 gallons of water every time they flush, but our low-flow toilets use about 20 percent less water than regular toilets. That means each low-flow toilet can surprisingly save up to 13,000 gallons of water per year.

We Save on Paper and Plastic

At The Circle, we are entirely paper-free. We choose everything that usually requires paper—rent payments, service requests, applications, and notices—online. Not only is this more convenient for our residents, but it also reduces our paper use. Additionally, we have a water bottle refill station to encourage our residents to use reusable water bottles, significantly reducing the waste from plastic water bottles.

We’re Excited to Announce Organic Waste Recycling!

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate! This initiative will help keep millions of pounds of food waste out of landfills and turn them into compost and renewable natural gas. You can learn more about organic waste recycling here . We’ll keep you up to date as this program expands throughout the state.

In our community, we strive to provide quality services to help make your life as a resident a little easier. Visit our new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more!

We want to do everything we can to take care of the environment and live green. If you care about living in an apartment complex that cares about the planet as much as you do, The Circle apartments is the perfect place for you!
